The City of Revelstoke aims to create a more environmentally sustainable City through a number of environmental programs and initiatives, including solid waste reduction, energy management, greenhouse gas reduction, water conservation, and environmental protection and education. These include:
- Water Regulations: Water usage restrictions are implemented to manage water demand and ensure there is sufficient water supply during summer months and more severe drought conditions. These restrictions apply to all properties in Revelstoke that use City water - residential, commercial, industrial & institutional.
- Solid Waste and Recycling Program: Find your garbage and recycling schedule here. Please note, recycling is not managed by the City of Revelstoke. RecycleBC contracts SCV Contractors for this service. Please contact SCV Contractors directly if you have questions or would like more information.
- Pesticide Bylaw: The City of Revelstoke has prohibited the use of cosmetic pesticides on land owned by the City and on privately owned residential property.
External Environmental Partners:
- The Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society (CSISS): A non-profit organization dedicated to preventing and managing the spread of invasive species within the Columbia-Shuswap region. Read the 2025 Invasive Plant Management Report here.
- The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD): The CSRD manage mosquito control for Revelstoke.
- Revelstoke Bear Aware Society: Their mission is to reduce human / bear conflict through education, cooperation and active management initiatives in the community of Revelstoke and surrounding area.
