Effective at 12:00 noon Friday June 25, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires, as well as other equipment and activities will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre. This prohibition is being implemented due to increased fire danger ratings caused by a warming trend throughout the Southeast Fire Centre. This prohibition will remain in effect until noon on Oct. 9, 2021, or until the order is rescinded by BC Wildfire.This prohibition does not ban campfires that are a half-metre high by a half-metre wide or smaller and does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.Within the City of Revelstoke, the Fire Chief is asking that Special Occasion campfires are not lit during periods of extreme temperatures to further reduce the risk of human caused fires in the city. If you must have a special occasion campfire, consider a propane firepit these are safe to use during periods of high fire risk.
Open Fire Ban
Effective noon Wednesday June 30, 2021 a prohibition on all open fires within the municipality of Revelstoke will comence, in alignment with the provincial prohibition. This prohibition will remain in effect until October 15, 2021 or until the provincial open fire prohibition order is rescinded.
