Alternate Approval Process
The Alternative Approval Process (AAP) is often used to undertake long-term borrowing, a boundary extension, establish a new regional district service, or other matters requiring elector approval. Known as a counter-petition, the AAP requires that 10% or more of eligible voters sign and submit a form of opposition to the proposed initiative in order to prevent the local government from proceeding with the proposed initiative.
Below is a brief outline of the alternate approval process. For full details on current AAP projects, please visit the TalkRevelstoke public engagement site.
