Transportation is a key sector of the local economy. Revelstoke is located on the main road and rail transportation routes that cross British Columbia and Canada.
CP Rail is a major employer in the community, and currently employs on average 300 persons locally as crew persons for the freight trains and as track maintenance workers.
A large work force maintains the
Trans-Canada Highway and surrounding highways in both summer and winter.
Revelstoke also has a small
airport which serves the region, although there is currently no regularly scheduled air service into the community.
